The federal minimum wage was raised to $7.25 an hour by Congress in 2009, something that has been carried out only a handful of times since the establishment of the wage in the Fair Labor Standards Act in 1938. Even with this modest rise in income, the minimum wage today does not provide for a decent standard of living. It has failed to keep pace with the wage growth of an average American worker. Like in Islam, men do not tolerate other men to look maliciously over a woman. By doing this, they would be punished and can be dismembered from the community. Though, it is not the gravest of sin but the point is, among its mediocrity, why people cannot refrain from doing this? There are many ways of interpreting this passages hence it would trigger an epiphany to those who do not adhere with God. A sociological explain could be is that, the passage tells us that the adherence of early people to the societal law is strong and the does not tolerate murder and adultery. Morality is also one of their concerns and also the woman empowerment since they do not want women to be treated lustfully and maliciously. In murder, there morality is also an issue, especially in euthanasia or mercy killing. It is a dilemma if the killer would be prosecuted since he only killed for the ease of the victim. The statement about divorce mainly explains that once bounded by the word of God, it can never be replaced by any other. And the partner that has been attached to a person can never be replaced so the person who will marry a divorced woman is committing adultery to his real husband though it was an intentional separation. To put it simply, the wife is still owned by her husband whatever happens. The statement about oaths simply implies that never swear of anything that we are not sure of doing. Never use the name of Lord or anything associated to his realm in vain. Let answers to a certain request are simple â€Å"yes† or â€Å"no†. With this, one is not using the name of God to give assurance to others. Those who will oppose my claims, could be liberal feminists and non-Christian adherents because I assumed while analyzing Matthew 5:27 that women are being discriminated against and that they need to be empowered to be out of their distressful life. Non-Christians would oppose me because they would point out that how monotheistic I viewed the passage since there are many religions and there are many possible ways of interpreting the passage through them. In divorce, the possible counter-argument is â€Å"why should there be divorce if is not accepted by God†, this is an inter-religion issue. Some religion may agree upon religion but as I have stated it is only forbidden the word of God. In oaths, I think no one will oppose me with this since all people wants to be assured of what people say not from betting his life or using the name of God in vain. In â€Å"an eye for an eye†, I think I will be opposed by the Arabs since they strongly believe in this. This is an ancien t rule called â€Å"hamurabi†. What you used to sin against other people will be taken away from you. For example, looking lustfully over a woman, they will take your eyes or theft then they will take your hands. They do not believe that kindness would be commensurate of the sins committed against them. Lastly, my claim in â€Å"love your enemies† could be refuted by other religion since my claim only revolved with God himself. In defense of my claims, I have stated a religion that has a great difference with Christianity, which is Islam, and supported my claims by stating one of their core beliefs. Liberal Feminists can also be refuted since there is material evidence in history that women have been subordinate to men. The fact that I have stated the arguments is to show how universal the passage it and is still applicable. The fact that my claims were only limited by the six statements, it is assumed that oppositions should consider looking into the context of the Christian religion before reacting to my claims.

Creating TV Drama Essay The Public Defenders – We all know about the lives of top-league lawyers who rake in millions of dollars settling class action suits or representing celebrity clients. We all also realize, somewhere back in our minds that for every high-priced lawyer whos working to spin celebrity Q-ratings and turn high-profile crimes into high-tax bracket success, there are ten public defenders (PDs) sweating out in the innards of some state or federal building, working for peanuts to save the dregs of society from an indifferent and often unjust legal system . The Public Defenders chronicles the toll that long hours and short pay take on the personal lives of four PDs who walk a tightrope of action and suspense while balancing their self-sacrificing professional lives with their all-too-self-absorbed sex lives and driving ambitions. The viewer enters the world of The Public Defenders from the vantage point of the common citizen: first glimpsing the four PDs in their professional roles. Each episode begins with four short but conflict-heavy teasers representing the beginnings of four distinct, but sometimes interweaving cases. The bulk of each weeks episode is devoted to the resolution of the four cases, by each of the PDs respectively. In some episodes, a case will be left hanging to be resolved in a later episode or episodes. As in real life, the PDs will often represent the same client or clients on repeated cases and it is likely that many defendants and clients of the PDs will become running fixtures as minor characters throughout the series entirety. Each of the PDs: Emmanuel Gonzalez: a young Yale graduate who chose to work in the trenches, student Jonathan Smith: a closet alcoholic, Sara Kentowitz: a compassionate but highly sexual do-gooder, and Joann Bonier: an ambitious but flawed attorney, becomes embroiled with their clients, often in sexual or romantic entanglements and sometimes, events unfold so rapidly and chaotically that the PDs themselves may cross the lines of legality. The plot-lines for specific episodes are based on showcasing the thin line between subjectivity and objectivity. The scripts will show blatantly that attorneys are anything but neutral when it comes to pushing their cases and working for their clients. Instead they are either emotionally engaged or coldly indifferent form the start of their cases and their professional work shows the degree to which they are personally engaged, invested, and interested in their clients. Ongoing plot-lines which thread through all the episodes will help to flesh out the characters and add a linear narrative dimension to the episodic format. Emmanuel is dealing with the process of a complicated divorce from his wife of 7 years, coupled with a child custody battle while his soon to be ex-wife is dealing with extreme alcoholism. He is also defending a repeat offender on trial for murdering his brother. Sara deals with an abusive husband while defending a 16 year-old being charged with rape. Jonathan is scheduled to go before the disciplinary committee for a hearing followed by an altercation in court, and is currently the sole care-giver for is aging parents. His father is showing symptoms of the early stages of Alzheimers. His mother suffers with depression. Joann, who is single, struggles to balance her work-load with the needs of her co-workers and her desire to have a personal life. Each of these over-arching plot lines will continue to spin threads and exert influence over the individual episodes which, as previously mentioned, may or may not resolve individual plot-lines. To allow our targeted viewing audience to connect and identify with the characters, The Public Defender will be filmed in courtrooms, jail cells and in the homes of our characters, giving an in-depth real life feel for the struggles that the characters are dealing with. In stark contrast the personal scenes will be filmed in a romantic idealized style which emphasizes hope and humanity. The sub-text of these visual contrasts is that the shows characters draw their inspiration to keep fighting from their real life relationships and not from law-books or high-flying principles. In fact , The PDs are willing to subvert principles and even laws to win cases that have moved them or touched them personally because they have to do so to win. The deck is stacked against them: the are over-worked, under-trained, and representing those who are least able to defend themselves. The depth of the real life affects on the characters is intended to attract eductaed audiences of a predominantly mature demographic. The target audience would be compatible with that of Law and Order or West Wing. However, many of the shows minor characters and sub-plots will be devoted to youthful issues and themes which impact younger people, so it hoped that 18-25 year-old college students may also find the show worthy of attention. Crime buffs, CSI fans, and fans of courtroom dramas should also be targeted with advertising and scheduling as much as possible as it is hoped that this demographic will also prove fruitful for The Pubic Defenders. The hook for taking viewers out of the competitions time-slot is The Public Defenders no-holds-barred romanticism coupled with its no-hold-barred realism: the PDs love hard, they play to win but they lose just as often and their clients pay the price. Airing this program will allow the network to not only capture the targeted audience but hold them for each and every episode. It will be the talk of the campus, the office and coffee shops everywhere. Those that miss these episodes will be looking to see when the reruns will be airing.

Bob Gonzalez's Life and Death of Marilyn Monroe, John Everett Millais' Trust Me and William Powell Frith's For Better of For Worse Art may be considered the reflection of one's emotions or an outlet of one’s creative thought. A person can display art, not only through music or dance, but also through the creativity of a play or drama. Bob Gonzalez's Life and Death of Marilyn Monroe is a great example of creatively organizing the inner thoughts of Monroe through the theatre. He went past Monroe's glamorous facade and showed the "behind the scenes" lifestyle. In addition to dramas and plays, art may also be expressed on the canvas. John Everett Millais (1829- 1896), president of Royal Academy, did well in demonstrating his creativity with oil paints. One of his recognized works is Trust Me. Being named the most illustrious member of the Pre-Raphaelite Brotherhood, Millais is a well-known Victorian Artist. William Powell Frith, too, was a renowned Victorian artist. For Better of For Worse was an oil painting with a double meaning. First, one could refer the title to the marriage vows. But as one further analyzes the piece, one notices that For Better or For Worse can also refer to the gap between the upper and lower classes. All in all, the artists in each of these cases had a story to tell using certain tools to show emotion. William Powell Frith (1819- 1909), like many before him, used the tricks of the trade to simulate a certain feel in For Better or For Worse. Wardrobe and the compositional unity are tools he used to make this painting tell its story and setting. Frith, first, chose a wardrobe worthy of the Victorian Era. All the men were dressed in classic suits, either black or navy blue with a white shirt. The women, too, were covered in the time-conventional, puffy dresses. But the women’s dresses came in assorted colors, unlike the men. Hence, the wardrobe matched the aristocratic, social norm of the time. A model of the lower class’ wardrobe matched the times stereotype. For example, the father, seemingly decrepit and tired, was in a ruined suit with holes in the pants and patches on the sleeves. His wife’s dress could not compare to the wonderful dresses of the upper class women.

Against Concealed Carry Law

The topic of concealed carry is something that a lot of people are talking about. Turn on the news, the radio, read the newspaper, surf the internet and the topic of conceal carry will be discussed. The reason it is so highly discussed is due to the effect that conceal carry will have on everyone regardless of race, age, and socio- economic background. As a resident of Illinois, the most recent state to adopt concealed carry, there continues to be much concern about how it will be monitored and enforced.Will there be an increase in public safety with the adoption of concealed carry or will here be an increase in gun related injuries and fatalities. The research process for this paper consisted of a comprehensive search via internet of Journal articles related to gun control and concealed carry, library database review, newspaper archives, and broadcast media reports. For the Journal articles and the library database review, the key words â€Å"concealed carry' and â€Å"gun control † were utilized.In reviewing the results from the use of the key words, Journal articles were then organized chronologically from oldest to most recent publication date within groups of relevant subject matter. The selected articles were reviewed and pertinent information was noted for use. Since Illinois is the most recent state to adopt the concealed carry law, newspaper archives were examined for articles concerning the issue in the local News Gazette, the Springfield State Journal Register and the Chicago Tribune. Articles written in 2013 discussing the adoption of the law were used to build a timeline covering the process to date.Broadcast media sources were searched for recent broadcasts related to concealed carry and gun control, and for examples of recent gun violence where the assage of concealed carry was proposed as the solution to preventing future incidents or blamed as the reason the incidents occurred. Broadcasts fulfilling these requirements were viewed and use d to provide evidence on both sides of the issue. Finally, websites for groups on both sides of the issue were reviewed for commentary and viewpoints that would greater examine the arguments both for and against concealed carry.The National Rifle Association (NRA) and the Students for Concealed Carry, both national organizations provided the voice for pro concealed carry. January 2013, President Obama urged Congress to pass gun control measures requiring background checks and declaring a ban on assault weapon.His message was that background checks would tighten the ability of individuals to purchase weapons from gun shows or from private dealers where background checks were not required. Close control on the sale of military- style semi-automatic guns or ‘assault weapons' was perceived to be a much more difficult process. When put toa vote in front of the senate, Senators voted 54-46 against universal background checks, 54-46 against limits on the size of high-capacity ammunition magazines, and 60-40 agains t a ban on the manufacture and sale of assault weapons in April 2013.In response to the vote, Obama blasted the gun lobbyists of spreading lies about the expansion of the background checks by implying that gun registry would be controlled by government officials. Those on both sides of he aisle, who assumed a Pro-gun control stance for legislation, committed their voice to the pursuit of gun control. In all 50 states, the carrying of a concealed gun is now legal according to an article that appeared on the website ProCon. org in October 2013. Only Washington, D. C. revents concealed carry except for both active and retired law enforcement officers. This article explores both sides of the concealed carry debate. For example, between May 2007 and March 2010 statistics reveal that nine law enforcement officers and 142 non-law enforcement individuals were killed by concealed carry handgun permit olders across the nation. It is also statistically significant to note that the majority of those who legally carry concealed do not abuse their rights and are non-violent.While it may seem obvious that criminals are less likely to attack someone that they believe might be armed, it is also important to emphasize that handguns are not an effective form of self-defense often resulting in injury and death for the individual carrying. A concealed handgun significantly increases the chances of a confrontation escalating in violence to a lethal degree. In a February 26, 2013 newspaper article written by Tom Kachich, State Representatives from Illinois approved a number of amendments to pass the concealed-carry law which would allow Illinoisans to carry weapons in public; however they would need to meet certain requirements that needed to be completed concealed-carry, legislation stated that Illinois was going to be a â€Å"shall state†, meaning that larger numbers of citizens would be able to acquire permits.The catch to obtaining a permit is eight hours of training including live-fire training, and would need to undergo a criminal history background check. In order to get a permit , the individual would have to pay an eighty dollar fee for a five-year permit. Representative Brandon Phelps elaborated â€Å"that there would be no limitation on the number of weapons a permit-holder could carry, but that the bill is more restrictive than we ever wanted it to be. † A weapon may not be carried in schools, child care facilities, local government buildings, libraries, stadiums, places of worship, casinos, and is even restricted on mass transit.Phelps' amendment would also not permit for those on campuses of colleges and universities to carry a firearm. State Representative, Naomi Jakobsson, proposed another amendment which was approved by the House which stated that firearms should be restricted in hospitals and mental health facilities. Karen Farkas wrote an article in the September 2013 edition of the Cleveland News about concealed carry on college campuses. Of the 1,649 students surveyed at fifteen public colleges in the Midwest, 78% reported that they did not support the carrying of handguns on college campuses.Most students reported that not only ould they not feel safer on campus; they were concerned about the potential for an increased risk of suicides and homicides. Ohio is a part of 49 states that have concealed carry weapons laws and one of 22 states that ban carrying a concealed weapon on a college campus. â€Å"l think for the majority of people this (concealed handguns) is not on their radar screen because it is so absurd,† said Amy Thompson, who is a professor in the department of public health at the University of Toledo who led the study. Why bring guns into the learning environment? When I talk to my students (about concealed carry) they say ‘Are you kidding me? I don't want a kid sitting next to me in class with a backpack with a gun in it. † Thompson, who is a part of a team of researchers, conducted a survey with the faculty and university presidents to see who supported the concealed carry and who didn't. â€Å"As a public health professor I wanted to look at who is pushing this and is it something that really, truly everyone wants,† she said.College students need to be aware of the value of a concealed carry weapon because a college campus is no different than a small city. Kurt Mueller, who is the organization's public relations director said, â€Å"The survey aid that most students believed that allowing concealed carry would increase the risks of suicides and homicides, and if you wanted to commit a homicide with a firearm you don't need a carry a permit to do it because they aren't worried about violation of the firearms law. Thompson said that a survivor of the Virginia Tech shootings who was shot four times spoke on her campus and said even if he had been armed he wouldn't have been able to do anything and would have been more likely to be killed. And Thompson says, â€Å"There is tons of research that will back that up. The study that she instructed also foun d that about 16 percent of undergraduate students own a firearm and 20 percent witnessed a crime on their campus that involved firearms; about 66 percent felt that if they carried gun it would make them less likely to be bothered by others. eapons on college campuses, and five other states put forth bills that would prohibit concealed weapons on campuses. Even though the legislation was pushing for weapons, studies suggest that a large number of college students did not support allowing concealed weapons while attending school. 78% of the students, who were urveyed at 1 5 different Midwestern colleges and universities, expressed opposition to concealed weapons, according to the study which was published in the Journal of American College Health. This issue of allowing people to carry concealed weapons at universities and colleges around the U. S. has been raised several times in recent years,† said Jagdish Khubchandani, who is a member of Ball State University. â€Å"This is in spite of the fact that almost four of every five students are not in favor of allowing guns on campus. † In a statement published July 12, 2013 The National Rifle Association (NRA) roposed that the Second Amendment is a far more important portion of the Bill of Rights, suggesting that far more emphasis should be placed on it than even the First Amendment.This belief is behind the NRA attempts the legislature and the courts to be able to expand rights to gun owners while weakening the rights of gun opponents. The NRA views the resistance to concealed carry as a type of reverse discrimination which would prevent people who should have the ability to protect themselves from that right. The passage of concealed carry laws has been a focus of the NRA. Their tance is that while individual rights are important, nothing is important as the right to carry. Another group that is pro- concealed carry law would be a student organization known as Students for Concealed Carry on Campus.T hese students believe that if they were allowed to carry a concealed weapon on them that they would feel safer walking alone at night or even if someone they did not know approached them. They support the individual's right to defend themselves in times of personal Jeopardy. For every group that supports concealed carry, there is a group of people who do not. One such group is The National Order of Fraternal Police. A group of law enforcement officers, this group strongly believes that they should be the only ones to have a handgun. Police officers have been highly trained regarding the necessity of the use of a weapon.These officers are entrusted by their cities and communities to utilize firearms only when essential for public safety. In a profession which is not only dangerous, but also unpredictable, the concern that the officer will not know whom is armed and who is not could raise the intensity surrounding altercations, and holds the potential for concealed carriers to get inv olved in situations they are ot prepared for. Further Research Currently the most interesting sources were the ones about the facts about concealed carry and the attempt to pass the gun control law after the school massacre fail.One of the issues emerging was whether or not college campuses should allow students to carry a concealed weapon on them while at school. Some students thought that they should be able to carry a gun so that they would feel safer when walking alone at night; while others weren't keen on the idea of carrying a weapon. Most people would agree with having a concealed weapon, even though you ave to complete a certain amount of training hours and live fire hours to carry a concealed carry rather than be for it since there has been so many school shootings and even shootings in my town not too long ago.

My wish for these young adults is for them to explore what their capabilities are through learning a trade. This trade school is the only one of its kind in this county, we want to offer a variety of skill sets to the students without them having to travel far or live elsewhere.We feel that instead of the undue stress that can wreak havoc on these young adults and their families as to what to do after high school if they are not ready to attend an academic college or university, why not offer them an option of a skill that will enable them to make money and be a prelude to an academic school. Currently, what I am seeing with these young adults that are stuck on what do to with their lives, is a huge increase in drug use, crime and horrifically death. II. Description of the businessOur school would offer barrage of choices from traditional trades for the students that are good with their hands should definitely consider a skilled trade such as plumbing, electrical work, carpentry, welding, and mechanical repair. Additionally, we would offer automotive repair and service certifications, as our vehicles become more complicated and there are more and more commuters in this region, this is a great avenue to consider getting certified in. Our automobiles are not the only thing that continues to change and get upgraded, our technology is forever changing and improving as well.With that stated we will offer industrial technology and machine technology programs. Industrial technology is somewhere between a business and an engineering degree; for the most part they take care logistic and operational problems in the industrial environment. Whereas machine technology students will have the ability to build a car on an assembly line, become a machinist by operating a precision grinder and a vertical milling machine, or even computerized robotic machine.And lastly, we want to branch out and offer the artistic talent in the community the option of developing their talent, be it in interior decorating, art work, or design. III. Marketing There are two target markets that I would start my focus on for my new venture of a trade school; one being high schools, the second being the surrounding businesses that are downsizing. I would visit the schools and set up career days to inform potential stud ents of the opportunities that are available and leave literature and a website address to visit for more information as well as fill out a short survey.Also, toward the end of senior year for these students, when the teachers and counselors give information on what to expect for college and forward thinking for their children; I would arrange being at this event to provide the same information to the parents that the students received. As most parents know not all informational pamphlets make it home. This will provide the data on what type of trades if any the students are interested in and how serious the interest is by the parents. The target of large businesses is basically to try to negotiate getting the people they are letting go on board to learn a new trade as an option.I would try to get these businesses to pay for the trade school tuition as part of a severance package; depending on the length of service. So, leaving information for employees to check out the website and fill out a short survey to provide me with the interest and in what field that interest is. After obtaining the data, analyzing it and working through my reports; the next step which is just as important is the immediate follow up with each interested party. Following up on leads when they are warm is essential when the topic is fresh in memory. After these new data are obtained, the owner/manager must know how to objectively arrange, analyze, and interpret them to draw valuable conclusions,† (Kuratko & Hornsby, 2009, p 137). Also offering a survey online on our website would be another way to conduct it. This can be done without costing a bundle by getting in touch with a graphics design student and hiring him/her to set up a our website that prospective students can go to and do the survey as well as learn about our school and all it has to offer.By conducting a survey sample to a small group of potential students it enabled us to gain insight as to what areas students were interested in getting their education in and if they were open to receiving knowledge of a trade school as an option for said interest. A request to participate in the survey was emailed to 5 individuals. The survey posed four questions to these recipients, as listed below. 1) What are your plans after you graduate? A. Attend community college B. Attend a university C. Work D. Other __________________ ) What career interests you and why? ______________________ 3) Are you interested in learning about our local trade school and what we offer our students? A. Yes B. No C. Maybe 4) What will the total annual costs be at the school you want to attend? A. 0. 00 – 5,000. 00 B. 6,000 – 15,000 C. 16,000 – 25,000 D. 30,000 and up The first question, there were 2 respondents that chose B) to attend a university; one that chose A) community college; 1 chose A) community college and C) work; and 1 choose C) work.From the answers to this question I can surmise that 4 of the p articipants are interested in continuing their education, and possibly 3 could be interested in a trade school if it offered the programs they are interested in. The second question, 3 out of the 5 chose something in the medical profession; health practitioner; medical esthetician; and a radiology technician. 1 respondent chose computer programming; and 1 chose unsure. From this information I would say there are possibly four potential students, the health practitioner would obviously need to obtain a degree from a medical school.On the Third question, 3 out of 5 chose no, they did not want to receive information on the trade school or what it had to offer, and 2 that did. The way I posed the question might have something to do with the negative responses, as most people are turned off to receiving more junk mail, and or get signed up for something they don't want. Perhaps if I had posed the question in a more inviting manner than as matter of fact as I did; for instance, we will be hosting an open house at our facility with refreshments and would like to extend an invitation to you.That could have made it more pleasing to read and thoughtful. And lastly, 3 of the respondents chose B) 6,000 to 15,000 for annuals costs, 1 respondent chose A) 0. 00 to 5,000, and 1 respondent chose 30,000 and up. It is clear that the majority expect to pay up to 15,000 a year in costs for education. The results are not completely positive from this survey; it seems that trade schools may have a stigma. And since we haven't had a trade school of this kind in our area for decades, it is time to reeducate people on what benefits come from trade/vocational schools.There are so many young adults that are not yet sure of which direction to go, this trade school is local so it keeps the costs down by not sending the children away to college to find that they are either not ready, drop out, change their major, etc. It is just another option one that allows the student to perhaps test the waters and in the process learn a trade and apply that experience to earn and income and further their education. IV. Research, design, and development Setting up a board of trustees for this school is my next step.This board will consist of a variety of people some with experience in each of the programs we have to offer as well as education, and the fundamentals of running a school. This group will be responsible for developing processes for the daily school functions, as well as the policies and procedures for the school. Obtaining an accountant and attorney will also be important to get their expertise when it comes to the licensing, operating permits, occupancy certifications and accreditations that may be required.Additionally, assessing what equipment and materials will need to be purchased for not only the administrative area like the copier, fax machine, etc. But also for the classrooms in what their programs are automotive, welding, sewing machines, art materials, etc. Al so any costs that are related to renovating the structure will need to be included. And then there are the start up costs of the school and its daily operations that need to be taken into consideration: utilities, payroll, postage, clerical help, maintenance staff, advertising and marketing.In hiring staff I want to look to the retirement community especially people that are seasoned in the trades that we offer and with the proper training can teach. This allows our retired workers to share their knowledge in their specialized career, and stay an active member of the community. Most of these retired teachers will have their insurance already and an established income. So, the cost of providing insurance for them will be little to none. V. Operations segment The sales budget is a new businesses main budget that when finalized is the baseline budget to build other budgets off of.The cash budget is factored on what type of daily and weekly cash needs the business will need for overhead operations. It involves the maintenance of the expenses as well to know what the allotment of monies there should be for that certain duration of time. â€Å"By linking the other budgets to sales, the owner/manager can adjust expenditures up or down depending on the status of operations. If sales are greater than expected, production can be raised and the number of personnel can be increased.Conversely, if sales are slower, production can be halted temporarily and some employees can be released,† (Kuratko & Hornsby, 2009, p 226). The necessity of sales and cash budgeting management is crucial in my venture, knowing how many students would need to be enrolled to meet and exceed the costs to run the facility is imperative. By choosing an LLC this protects me from personal liability. (In the case of injury like a resident slipping on water in the bathroom or choking on their meal, the lawyers can't go after your house. ) Also, only the amount of money you put into an LLC is at risk. LLCs have other qualities as well: they are not as complex and more flexible; they don't require a board of directors, shareholder meetings and other managerial formalities; they allow entrepreneurs to split up the profits any way they choose.With the type of facility I would like to have and under this form of business I would be able to draw in investors with offering maybe a bigger piece of the profits than their initial investment would warrant. This kind of flexibility could help raise the millions in start-up costs to open one of these facilities. â€Å"The disadvantages of the LLC are relatively few. VI. ManagementBy setting up a clearly identified strategic organizational list of goals to ensure all employees are aware and understand the vision of the organization. In setting up these goals there needs to be a measuring metrics that is specific to real data that flows within the organization and set up for each specific department. So for instance, registering new students and their demographic data would be a measurement from the administrative department, and the students grades would be a measurement from the teaching department.This process of deciding what should be measured based on the goals of the organization should be a type of value stream mapping that should include all the employees as a group. This allows for excellent input and good communications and the old open door policy adage; which in turn makes for a better work environment and higher morale. Once each goal is clearly defined and the performance standards are set, they must be monitored on a periodic basis to see if the target is being met and if not why.This also allows employees to take accountability for their functions and to understand how their duties fit into the big picture, and this can be a realization of the importance of their function as they increase the ownership of their goals. When monitoring the progress and there is a low mark in a particular category, at this point it is imperative to perform something called a Relentless Root Cause Analysis (RRCA), this is a process that we used at a former job), and was quite handy on getting results.There is also the 5-why method or the fish bone analysis, all of which are good analytical methods to find the problem and resolve it. When measurements prove positive having a type of reward for the employee or department sends a positive message to the achievers that their efforts are valued. This is an ongoing process and whether the results are positive or not from the measuring metrics should always include all the employees so they understand where the hiccups are and what needs to be done to rectify them as well as enjoy the benefits of a job well done. VII. Financial forecastingIn order to obtain the start-up capital for my trade school, I would look into many different sources starting with foundations and nonprofits that are experienced committed to underwriting educational projects. â€Å"State grants help State and loc al schools offer programs to develop the academic, vocational and technical skills of students in high schools, community colleges, and regional technical centers. Funds from this program can be used for a broad range of programs, services, and activities designed to improve career–technical education programs and ensure access to students who are members of populations with special needs,† (ed. ov). The type of loan that would make sense for my venture is the Term Loan, and it has a maturity from 1 to 10 years, this enables me to take the time to build my business and pay back the loan over a longer period of time. I would additionally think about having a line of credit open for the just in case scenarios that can arise in a business. Seeking avenues of financing for my school will involve fundraising; this also gets our schools name out there.Write up a strategic professional business plan to present to local donors and once our school is able to start showing the su ccess rate of our students, use that data to gather more donors. Also, by getting in touch with local and national companies to determine if they will sponsor our school with supplies or funds, will help with costs. This would be like offering specialized subjects as add-ons to courses as a bundle package.For instance, taking water color painting, and adding oil painting would be a bundled course. VIII. Harvest strategy I would actually do both long-term debt and equity financing, and here is why. With a new venture I would choose long-term debt in the beginning. This allows me to be in control of the business, and therefore if there is a profit great; if there is failure then it will only affect me. Also, the interest on the loan is tax-deductible. I would feel t errible if I asked for assistance from family and friends then lost their monies. Debt capital is divided into three categories: (1) current or short term, (2) intermediate term, and (3) long term. Short-term liabilities (debt) include borrowed money that must be repaid within the next 12 months; intermediate term refers to loan-payback periods from 1 to 10 years; and long-term debt is payable sometime beyond 10 years, depending on the loan terms,† (Kuratko & Hornsby, 2009, p 171). Due to the large upfront money it will take to get my venture off the ground, having the ability to make payments over a long period of time is more feasible than trying to come up with it myself.Now once my business starts to show progress and is in the black for a historical period of time (1-5 years? ) that is when I would enlist investors. At that point in time I would assess a business strategy and see if the monies that are being invested should be applied to loans or used to grow the business . From the effects of new government policies, to issues of childcare and health expenses, as well as a look into the future consequences of changes that may affect the current programs, the article looks closely at the economic hardships of single mothers in the world today (Jencks, 199. Jencks discussion begins with an explanation of why low-income statistics are generally incorrect, and his explanation makes sense to me. According to Edin and Lein (1997), the Census information collected only relates to wages earned, and does not take into account the added costs of employment, such as daycare and transportation. To me, we could improve in this area. If the Census information can be drawn for wages earned, there should be corresponding data to show the total net earnings of individuals. In this way, we could better see a representation of the poor. Jencks also discusses the inabilities of single mothers to live on their federally supplied monthly income. According to the article, families with incomes below $5,000 a year somehow also spent $1,100 a month. This is because these women also take non-reportable work and rely on family, friends and the fathers of their children to help support their family (Jencks, 1997). While many may see this as taking advantage of the system, I see it as a necessity. If the federal government is providing so little income to these mothers, they absolutely have to find other sources of income, in order to obtain necessities. In addition, I feel that this is one way that mothers consider themselves responsible for providing family Jencks also points out the flaws of a new program called "Temporary Assistance for Needy Families" (TANF) that replaces...

Presidential Cabinet and Its Purpose A presidential cabinet is a group of the most senior appointed officers of the executive branch of the federal government. Members of the presidential cabinet are nominated by the commander in chief and confirmed by the U.S. Senate.  White House records describe the role of presidential cabinet members as being to advise the president on any subject he may require relating to the duties of each members respective office. There are 23 members of the presidential cabinet, including the vice president of the United States. How the First Cabinet Was Created Authority for the creation of a presidential cabinet is granted in  Article II Section 2 of the U.S. Constitution. The Constitution  gives the president the authority to seek external advisors. It states that the president can require the Opinion, in writing, of the principal Officer in each of the executive Departments, upon any Subject relating to the Duties of their respective Offices. Congress, in turn, determines the number and scope of executive Departments. Who Can Serve on the Presidential Cabinet? A member of the presidential cabinet cannot be a member of Congress or a sitting governor. Article I Section 6 of the U.S. Constitution  states   ... No person holding any office under the United States, shall be a member of either house during his continuance in office. Sitting governors, U.S. senators and members of the House of Representatives must resign before being sworn in as a member of the presidential cabinet. How Members Are Chosen The president nominates cabinet officers. The nominees are then presented to the U.S. Senate for confirmation or rejection on a simple majority vote. If approved, the presidential cabinet nominees are sworn in and begin their duties. Who Gets to Sit on the Presidential Cabinet? With the exception of the vice president and attorney general, all cabinet heads are called secretary. The modern cabinet includes the vice president and the heads of 15 executive departments.
